A typical day in my life

It has been just about a year since I quit my job at UPS and said Goodbye to the Corporate World forever. I didn’t miss work, my job or anything related to it over the past year. Yes, I made good friends which I’m planning to keep for at least this lifetime..:-) and stay in touch with.

The obvious question is how I keep myself busy now that I have 8-10 additional hours everyday at my disposal. The truth is whoever is financially free, it is the last thing on their mind i.e. what to do with so much time.

When we set out to become financially free, we automatically become busy with so many other things in life. Each person uses time differently as the hobbies, interests and priorities differ from person to person.

Brinda and I have been keeping busy with Haripriya for now. I love changing her diapers, giving her the oil massage, wiping her after her bath, going for walks and to the play area. There’s so much to do. I have relished the precious moments where she sat, crawled, stood and walked for the first time. Any parent would know the joy of all these transitions.

Following is a picture of Haripriya about 6-8 months old:

This is how she looked when she would wake up in the morning. She is very playful after her sleep. I’m there to cuddle and play with her each morning whether it is at 8, 9 or 10 am.

Here’s another picture of her helping me to empty the dishwasher in the morning:

Brinda, Haripriya and I have been doing a lot of traveling as well. It is fun to meet the family and friends after longtime. Haripriya got to spend so much time with her Nana, Nani and Mama.

Life feels like King size when we go to Central Park (NY) or Piedmont Park(ATL) during weekdays. Immerse ourselves in the sanctified and serene atmosphere of our temples and indulge in a big vegetarian feast afterwards. The public parks, trails, apartment Gym/Clubhouse, all are deserted during weekdays. We can beat the traffic, decide to go when the weather is at its best. All these everyday pleasures don’t cost much.

I love the fact that I don’t have to shave everyday or dress up or deal with work related stress. I still have shower first thing in the morning, do my prayers and exercise. Read scriptures with Brinda and Haripriya. Help Brinda in cooking, cleaning etc. Everybody is happy at end of the day. All this adds a lot of quality to Harpriya’s upbringing as well.

You can also tailor your lives in your own way once you achieve the financial freedom. I just wanted to give you a glimpse of the reward so that we feel continuously motivated to achieve this worthy goal.

Nothing like that brother. I do feel friends can get a little motivation from a Live and Practical example. 🙂

Thanks for your comments and encouraging words.
